BIG POND NEWFOUNDLANDS
PURCHASE CONTRACT
Puppies will be sold with a “Limited” AKC registration will be $1500. Limited AKC registration means that you
CANNOT breed this dog or show this dog in Conformation Events. This dog can however participate in other
AKC events such as Obedience, Agility, Drafting, Carting and Water Trials. We require you to have your puppy
spayed or neutered. We will not change from limited to full registration in the event your dog “accidentally”
breeds. Puppies sold with “Full” AKC registration will be $2000 to a show home.
All puppies sold (both with “Limited” and “Full” AKC registrations) must carry our name - “Big Pond” - in the
beginning of their titled registered names on AKC paperwork.
Before leaving for their new homes, all our puppies will be vet checked, updated on all shots, wormed, hearts
checked and Micro-chipped.
If you wish for us to hold a puppy we will require a $500 deposit. This will guarantee that we will hold the
available puppy of your choice. The balance will be required at pick up or before shipping (shipping fees are in
addition to the purchase price and must be paid by the buyer before shipping). Deposits are non-refundable
unless a puppy is not available. Make checks payable to Brenda Galpin. Pay Pal is accepted with a 5% service
charge.
You must have your puppy examined by your veterinarian, at your cost, within 7 days of purchase. You must
also take a sample of your pups stool for your veterinarian to check while at his /her initial visit, within 7 days of
purchase. We will refund full purchase price only if, at the initial vet visit, it is found that your puppy has a
serious medical problem and you have notified us at Big Pond about your vets findings with in 10 days of
purchase. In that case we will refund the full purchase price and you must return the pup, at your expense, to
us in the same condition it was given to you.
We offer a guarantee against life threatening SAS for 2 years after pups date of birth. If life threatening SAS is
detected by a Cardiologist in 2 years from date of birth, we will offer you a replacement puppy from out next
available litter. You will have the choice of keeping your first pup or returning to us.
We offer a guarantee against crippling hip dysplasia for 2 years. If crippling hip dysplasia is found we require,
at the owner’s expense, that radiographs of the hips be submitted to OFA and they will have the final opinion. If
this is the case, we will offer you a replacement puppy from our next litter. You will have the choice of keeping
your first pup or returning to us.
All heart and hip guarantees are going to be revoked if there are histories of abuse, neglect, not following your
vet’s advice, injuries resulting in broken bones or if the puppy has been allowed to become over weight. Proof
of proper medical care from time of purchase must be supplied.
Your new puppy must be fed a high quality dog food. There are many to choose from and they can be found
at many local pet and feed stores. Pet foods sold at grocery stores or convenience stores do not offer the
proper nutrition for your new Newfoundland’s development. Examples of good foods are, Canidae, Nutro Ultra,
Eagle Pack, Taste of the Wild or other approved foods by seller.
The following are simple guidelines that we encourage you to follow for the well being of your new puppy/dog.
However, proper weight management and nutrition are required for hip guarantee.
1) It is very important that your Newfoundland maintain proper weight at all times as recommended by your
vet. NEVER LET YOUR PUPPY GET FAT! You must keep your Newfoundland updated on all vaccinations,
and follow your vet’s recommendations.
2) We prefer that your new puppy be a part of the family and live with you in your home and not in a kennel.
3) While your Newfoundland is outside, there must be a safe place with shade and shelter from the elements
with fresh water for him/her to be while unsupervised. We prefer a fenced yard to contain your Newfoundland.
If this is not possible, a large kennel will be sufficient. At no time should your Newfoundland be tied for
extended periods of time.
In the event you cannot keep your new puppy, you are required to notify us at Big Pond Newfoundlands and we
will either work with you to find a suitable home or take the dog back. All registration documents transferring
ownership must also be returned and signed. If it is decided the puppy will be returned to us at Big Pond
Newfoundlands, you will be responsible for any and all expenses incurred with transportation back to us. There
will also be NO refund to the current owner in this case.
You must NOT EVER turn this puppy over to an Animal Shelter, Humane Society or Rescue Organization.
